Retaining its signature smokiness while bringing out rounded sweetness and a mellow mouthfeel. A gentle expression of Islay character.
A mellow smokiness and sweet harmony played by three types of casks
"Ardbeg An Oa" is named after the Mull of Oa, a cliff carved by the rough waves of the Atlantic Ocean in the southwest of Islay. While keeping the peaty character that is typical of Ardbeg, this is a bottle that achieves surprising roundness and mellowness.
Pedro Ximénez sherry casks that bring sweetness, new casks that bring spiciness, and first-fill bourbon casks that form the backbone of Ardbeg. By allowing unblended whiskies aged in these three types of casks to meld slowly over time in a specially crafted gathering vat (large cask), a mellow sweetness like syrup, black tea, and chocolate is beautifully harmonized amidst the smokiness.
"bar83rd" in Bashamichi, Yokohama, is a completely smoke-free hideaway bar that can be enjoyed by everyone from whisky beginners to connoisseurs. Why not take your time savoring the profound aroma of An Oa—where the smokiness unique to Islay malts and gentle sweetness coexist—while relaxing in our comfortable sofa seating?
