Characterized by its DoubleWood maturation process in bourbon and sherry casks. The gentle sweetness of honey harmonizes with the deep aroma of dried fruit.
Traditional Speyside matured in two casks, fragrant with honey and vanilla
Balvenie is one of the few distilleries in the Speyside region of Scotland that still carries out traditional floor malting in-house. Its representative work, packed with craftsmanship and dedication, is "The Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood."
As the name suggests, its greatest feature is maturation using "DoubleWood" (two types of casks). First, it is thoroughly matured in traditional bourbon casks to draw out sweet aromas of vanilla and honey. Afterward, it is transferred to Spanish oak sherry casks for several months of secondary maturation (finishing), which adds depth of spices and the rich fullness of fruit. The smooth and elegant mouthfeel makes it an ideal glass for a relaxing time after a meal.
Please enjoy the delicate aromas of Balvenie, which preserves the tradition of handmade craft, to your heart's content in the completely smoke-free space of "bar83rd," a hidden-away bar in Bashamichi, Yokohama. In a quiet establishment for adults away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we await you along with the finest Speyside malt.
